Final demo version!
Demo with 3 levels and most art assets covered! Been a long slow process to polish this up as much as it is since this is a hobby project, but we're happy with where we're at and want to get as much feedback on the game as we can.
It's been a crazy few years since inception as an entry to Alakajam 4 all the way back in 2018! My productivity dropped significantly in 2020 when my wife and I had a baby. But regular incremental progress got us here.
For about one year of that development I was planning on having whole levels of block puzzles leading up to the falling block line clearing boss fights. In hindsight that was a pretty big waste of limited development time, but it did help with making the block state management really robust as I created situations where stacks of blocks needed to be carefully taken apart for traversal. If I stuck with that I have no idea when the game would reach the demo ready state it's in now. Distilling it down to the essence of clearing lines was an important decision in the development of this game.
The plan is to build it out to 9 levels and the mechanics are there for 8 of them, with lots of assets still needed. Before we get going on polishing all of that we want to collect feedback and bug reports while taking some time to crank out a much smaller scope project. The slow process is working but we're not having as much fun with game development in that form as we have with game jams so we're taking the chance to have some more fun prototyping and throwing around concepts before coming back to fill in details on Sarcopha-gon!
Please share any feedback and bug reports with us, we want to make this a really fun and solid game and can't do that without some external perspective.
